Child Support

Palm Beach County Child Support Lawyer

Although child support in Florida is according to statute, it is not always so straight-forward. Child support calculation is in the best interest of the child as well as in the best interest of the parents.

At the Cao Law Firm, West Palm Beach child support attorney Tony D. Cao can help make sure that you will collect child support by ordering automatic deduction from a paycheck. If you are paying child support, we'll ensure that the amount you pay is the exact amount you are required to pay. Whether you wish to file for a child support modification, or you seek help with a child support arrearage against you, we can help. We are experienced and dedicated to the effective resolution of your case. Contact our knowledgeable child support lawyer to learn more about your child support options in Florida.

In Florida, the net monthly incomes of both parents are combined and put into a formula that provides a basic child support amount. The custodial parent will collect a percentage of that amount from the non-custodial parent.

If one parent is self-employed, owns a business, or has any additional source of income other than the collection of a standard paycheck, the child support amount will be affected. An experienced family lawyer can figure out what counts as income or not as income.

Child support orders are reviewed every three years to determine whether needs have increased and whether adjustments are appropriate. Child support amounts may be modified due to job loss, a new job, or in special needs cases, where a child's disability may require support beyond 18 or beyond Florida's standard child support guidelines.

At the Cao Law Firm, an experienced family law lawyer will review your case and explain the possible outcomes so that you may make an educated decision as to how to proceed.

In addition to child support assistance, our family law attorneys will work hard to protect your legal rights with regard to alimony or spousal support, the possibility of hidden assets, and tax considerations to be aware of with regard to divorce.
